So, I survived the first weekend. It was tough. This faire is hard to work, with the Friday nights until 10 p.m., and Saturdays, too, and then up for opening at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Especially if you like to party with friends until late at night... ; )
Again, I wasn't supposed to work for Silvermane, but I did. I helped with set up on Friday, and was very glad for the money. Friday night was a bit slow, but I think that is normal, it being the very first night and all. Much fun hanging out with Keith (BGBF), Alex (Lost Art Chain Mail), Chris (Silverleaf), Ruth and Amanda (Mountain Rogues), and guest appearances from many including Heath and his "minder" (too funny, he brought a babysitter) John, what a nice guy, and Marrus, always great fun. Of course we got shushed and shut down at about 2 a.m., which was probably a good thing.
Saturday was O.K., usual faire stuff, many NE Rennie visitors, which was nice. We did our own little stone soup thing after faire, which worked out well. It's tough when faire ends so late, though. Too easy to stay up too late! Sunday was rough. I got home and slept, and slept. I have to try to get more sleep next weekend!
Next weekend I will be hawking T-shirts for Daniel Greenwolf and helping with Fantasy Dimensions, Kirin's booth, a bit. Not enough work at the Blacksmith's for me. I need to make at least enough money to fill the gas tank.
Not sure if I will be there the final weekend, as my JOB starts MONDAY. For REAL! And I don't want to mess it up. I don't know for sure what my hours will be yet. It was supposed to be 32 hours per week (which I thought would give me Fridays off), but has now been upped to 35. That is good news, but I will probably not make it to faire while adjusting to the new schedule. Priorities! I guess last summer was my summer of faires, I went to them all. So I had my time. Now is time to buckle under and get the real job going. *sigh*
